About the classroom

The Habermann Computing Classroom is located in 5419 Wean Hall. It was designed for teaching undergraduate courses in Introductory Programming. The classroom was named after A. Nico Habermann, who was the first Dean of the School of Computer Science.

The classroom consists of 94 Apple iMac computers.

The primary users of the classroom are students enrolled in our courses. We teach approximately 600 students every semester. Ninety percent of all undergraduates enrolled at Carnegie Mellon will take one of our courses.

The classroom features a customized audio visual system that replaces chalkboards and flip charts. It integrates data projectors with the instructor's machine, a document projector, and a wireless sound system. For a virtual tour of our classroom, click here (requires QuickTime).

Teaching and Open Lab Schedule

During the day, the classroom is used to teach courses and is not open to the general public.

During evenings and weekends, open Lab hours are typically staffed by two student lab assistants (LA's). For the schedule, click here.
