Carnegie Mellon will host a summer workshop for AP Computer Science high school teachers July 27 - August 2 (plan on arriving on Sunday, July 27). The workshop is intended for teachers who have one year teaching experience in Java. This week is appropriate for experienced teachers of the current A or AB curriculum. Through lecture, demonstrations, and lab assignments, participants will work with experienced Computer Science instructors developing an understanding of these topics, and teaching methods for presentation in their own classroom setting.

There will also be an extensive exploration of the new Advanced Placement Computer Science Case Study, "GridWorld".

Cost for the workshop is $450. The workshop fee will include materials and opening dinner/closing lunch; all other meals are on your own: if your school district is paying, you must add in an appropriate per-diem to cover meals. The cost for single-occupancy, on-campus housing at Resnik Hall is $360.

This seasonally air conditioned building offer five-person suites and double rooms. The guest is able to control their own air conditioning temperature in their sleeping room. The residence has lounges on each floor, laundry facilities and a total of two community kitchens. There is also a cafeteria that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on the ground floor. Wireless computer network is available with a guest account. Phones may be requested-the fee is $5.00 per phone per week. Basic furnishings include a twin-size bed, chest of drawers, desk and chair, closet or wardrobe. Weekly housekeeping and linen change for stays of one week or longer.

Each suite has a microfridge and a common seating area. The bathrooms are shared within each suite.

A campus parking pass, if needed, can be purchased for $70/week.
