Jacobo Carrasquel, Associate Teaching Professor, has taken a one-year assignment in "Education City" near Doha, Qatar. Education City has been set aside by the Qatar Foundation for the establishment of branch campii of several American Universities, including Carnegie Mellon Qatar (CMU-Q).

Mr. Carrasquel will act as teacher and advisor. His most important task is "to provide a CMU style education and values" to his new students. He feels he will have succeeded if his students come away with "another set of options and points of view" and a broadened view of Computer Science.

Mr. Carrasquel is expected to return to Pittsburgh in July 2005. We wish him well!
